THUNDER BAY -- The Community Economic Development Commission is trying to change the way outsiders view Thunder Bay.

A new website has been created to attract newcomers, and features everything needed, to explore the city electronically.

The attraction tool aims to provide an easy one-stop-shop that answers all the questions someone may have when they consider moving to the city.

It has links that direct the viewer to the appropriate website and videos that promote the city's lifestyle.

Commission CEO Doug Murray said everyone benefits from people choosing to move to Thunder Bay, so he hopes businesses in the city can work together to push this project forward.

“We are in a bit of an aging demographic with baby boomers starting to exit the work force,” Murray said.

“The baby boomers are also in the business community as they own small and medium enterprises in Thunder Bay and those businesses are being bought by other people in the city, but some aren’t.”

Murray added that they are going to help push that Thunder Bay is a good place to live.

Business owner and realtor Jack Mallon said he will be pushing this as hard as he can on advertising and marketing.

“I encourage all the other businesses in town to do the same thing because it’s an excellent tool,” Mallon said.

“They should go to the site when they have a few minutes and look at it…it’s full of good information that will help your business grow.”

The website was officially launched Friday, and is available in over one hundred different languages.
