TORONTO — The Ontario Energy Board has given Enbridge Gas permission to increase its rates for natural gas effective Jan. 1, 2020.
Residential customers who buy natural gas from Enbridge will see their cost increase between $6.00 and $20.00 per year depending on location.
In northwestern Ontario, Enbridge says, the increase is expected to average two per cent of a customer's current bill, or about $18.00 a year.
Small commercial customers across the province can expect a bigger hike, ranging up to $513 a year. However, some small commercial customers will see a decrease of up to $27.00 a year, depending on location.
Enbridge says the changes reflect forecast increases in North American market prices for natural gas supplies and the cost to transport natural gas from Western Canada to customers.
The OEB also previously approved changes in delivery rates reflecting anticipated costs in 2020.
