Nine new COVID-19 cases announced

Active case count grows from 48 to 54.

THUNDER BAY – There were nine new cases of COVID-19 announced on Thursday by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

The latest cases bring the district’s total to 630 since the pandemic began. Fifty-four of those cases are currently considered active.

Of the nine new cases, five are considered close contact exposures and one is related to travel outside of Northwestern Ontario. Two more are pending exposure types and one has no known exposure.

Eight of the cases reside in Thunder Bay and surrounding communities, while one lives in a district community.

Three additional cases are considered resolved.

There are no new cases in hospitals and the death count stand at 22.
