Nine new COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay area

No one with COVID-19 is currently hospitalized.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports nine new COVID-19 cases in catchment area, including eight in the city or immediate surrounding area.

Six of the cases are listed as being caused by close contact with infected individuals.

One case has an unknown exposure source, and two are still under investigation.

An analysis of TBDHU data shows that all nine individuals are under the age of 49.

There are currently 115 active COVID-19 cases in the city and district, one fewer than on Monday.

So far during the pandemic, fourteen individuals have died after contracting the virus, including 12 residents of the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home.

As of Tuesday morning, no patients were being treated for COVID-19 in area hospitals.
