THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Tuesday reported nine new COVID-19 cases in the City of Thunder Bay or immediate surrounding area.
Four people are now receiving treatment in hospital – two more than on Monday – including one in the intensive care unit.
One of the nine new cases is connected to travel outside Northwestern Ontario.
The TBDHU said four cases involve close contact with previously infected individuals, two have no known exposure source, and two cases remain under investigation.
No new cases were reported Tuesday at the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home, where the number of active cases fell from 14 on Monday to 13, including eight residents and five staff.
The total number of reported active cases in the city and district stands at 60, three fewer than on Monday.
So far during the pandemic, 21 people have died after contracting COVID-19, including 19 residents of Southbridge Roseview.
