NIPIGON, Ont. -- For seniors living in Nipigon, the options for housing can be limited.
There is currently only one seniors’ complex in the town, but that may soon change.
For six years now, Nipigon has been looking at obtaining funding for a seniors complex, and now they are in serious talks with an interested investor.
The plan involves converting an old school into a seniors’ home.
It's right across the street from Nipigon's current and only seniors’ complex, which has a 20-person waiting list.
The town will try to cater to more seniors with the new building, making it more affordable to stay in.
Town Councillor and acting Mayor James Foulds says the addition of a new complex is needed, and would help keep seniors in Nipigon.
