THUNDER BAY -- There was no discussion as city council approved nearly $177,000 more for the event centre's third phase Monday.
Council approved the $176,988, mainly for legal fees, without a word as they met for the last meeting of 2015. It will be taken from the Renew Thunder Bay Fund.
Funding for Phase 3 came from the city's Renew Thunder Bay Fund, also where the extra money would come from, the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund and FedNor.To-date, project costs are nearly $4 million.
In September, council voted to move ahead to Phase 4, which would prepare and submit the project for provincial and federal funding and confirm commitments from the private sector.
