THUNDER BAY -- Residents of a John Street home were treated on scene and released after a fire swept through the second floor of their home.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, in a release issued on Monday morning, said the call came in earlier in the day, just after midnight.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flame at the front of the home.
The initial unit called for an aggressive attack on the fire, entering the structure from the front. They quickly knocked it down and swept the home for residents, declaring it all clear.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters say it's a good reminder that smoke detectors can save lives, which one might have on this occasion.
