Officials with Canadian Blood Services say there are no plans to bring a mobile blood clinic to Thunder Bay, despite scheduled stops in other Northwestern Ontario cities.
A mobile blood unit often visits communities west of Thunder Bay, like Kenora and Fort Frances, but Director of Donor and Clinic Services Bill Coleman says it's simply not feasible to bring a mobile blood clinic to Thunder Bay.
Our city's plasma clinic was abruptly closed in April of 2012.
At the time, CBS officials cited a decline in the demand for plasma as the main reason for the closure.
It was also a cost-saving measure, and those financial challenges still remain, according to Coleman.
Coleman encourages all travellers from the city to visit the Canadian Blood Services website... to find out where they can donate blood while on vacation.
