NOLALU, Ont. -- A Nolalu area man has been fined $1,750 for hunting violations.
Benjamin Sheppard pleaded guilty and was fined $1,000 for failing to immediately attach a seal to a white-tailed deer, and $750 for knowingly making a false statement to a conservation officer.
Court heard that on November 1, 2017, Sheppard was hunting behind his residence where he harvested an antlerless white-tailed deer.
Responding to a tip, conservation officers contacted Sheppard who denied harvesting a deer. Officers later located a white-tailed deer hanging in a building on the property. It was determined that Sheppard shot the deer and didn’t apply his deer game seal as required.
