THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is looking for a real game-changer.

The Chamber launched its nomination process for the 2017 Business Awards of Excellence Wednesday, and they have added a new recognition.

Chamber President Charla Robinson said the new Game Changer Award is a way of celebrating the spirit of collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking.

The community is being ask to cast their ballot to nominate exceptional businesses for a variety of different awards.

This past year Impact Promotions won the Looking Good Award, and President John Phyllis said the acknowledgement has been great for business.

“It’s given us a lot of recognition,” Phyllis said. “It has brought our company to the next level, people recognize us more, people come by the building and they know that we won the award.”

Phyllis added that the award has brought in a lot more people, so they’ve grown a lot in the past year.

Robinson said the award is a good way to get businesses some extra profile.

“It’s a real prestigious award, and so it’s something that the winners are proud of, and it’s a very competitive process,” she said.

Robinson said they’ve had more than 70 nominations every year for the 12 awards, so to win an award, it’s a prestigious thing.

To nominate a business visit the Chamber's website, and the awards will be held on April 8th 2017.
