Terrace Bay mayor Mike King has put forth a motion asking that ambulance service be fully restored to the North Shore.
Schreiber and Terrace Bay paramedics split the duties, and Schreiber Mayor Don McArthur says that is presenting some problems.
“If you’re in Schreiber and there’s an ambulance station right in town you wouldn’t think you would ever be more than four or five minutes away,” McArthur said during an interview with Thunder Bay Television. “But because of staffing issues, and because of logistics … often you can wait quite often for an ambulance.”
EMS Chief Norm Gale said Thunder Bay's strategic plan will ensure the best option is implemented.
He added that consultations for services along the North Shore will be done this spring.
