The North Shore Steelhead Association has started working to rehabilitate a small local brook trout creek.

George Creek was heavily impacted during the construction of Centennial Park.  The result has been a significant loss in the spawning productivity and available fish habitat. Project Manager Frank Edgson says they want to return the stream to its natural design.

Once complete, it will offer fish refuge for high and low water situations in the Current River. Edgson says the project is a great way to educate the public on the importance of small creeks.

Construction began Monday and is scheduled to be complete by the end of this month.  Anyone interested in helping with the project can visit the North Shore Steelhead Association's website.
