FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Playing just their second game in 13 nights, it’s not surprising the Thunder Bay North Stars were a little rusty out of the gate on Friday night.

But it only took them 20 minutes to get going.

Down 2-1 after the opening period, the Stars erupted for six goals in the second and went on to double up the host Fort Frances Lakers 8-4 at Ice For Kids Arena.

Noah Broughton scored twice and Jake Parker had a goal and two assists to lead the way for Thunder Bay, who have won seven times in their past 10 outings.

Dylan Winsor, Dimitri Trahiotis, E.J. Paddington, Liam Murdoch and Colby Feist had the other North Stars goals.

Dylan Wedword and Ryker Watt staked the Lakers to a 2-0 lead in the first, with Ian Snooks and Watt, with his second of the night, rounding out the Fort Frances scoring.

Keenan Marks faced 37 shots in net for Thunder Bay, while Kaden King took the loss for Fort Frances, stopping 48 of 56 shots.

The Stars and Lakers meet again on Saturday night.
