Northern Policy Institute needs independence to be successful, groups say

Independence is the key if the new Northern Policy Institute is to be a success. That's according to a group of northern organizations, which has drawn up some recommendations for the specials advisors of the Institute.

Independence is the key if the new Northern Policy Institute is to be a success.

That's according to a group of northern organizations, which has drawn up some recommendations for the specials advisors of the Institute.

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities, NOMA and the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association say that the mission, outcomes and principles proposed in the Common Voice Northwest be adopted by the organization.

These include credible, balance and independent research that is forward looking and Northern Ontario based.

The Northern Policy Institute was created under the new Northern Growth Plan to advise the government on policy initiatives.
