KENORA, Ont. — The Northwestern Health Unit reported 109 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the current case count to 281.

NWHU said six residents of its service area are in hospital because of COVID-19.

The Kenora and Sioux Lookout health hubs continue to have the largest number of active cases – 94 and 91 respectively.

Kenora had 38 new cases over the weekend, while Sioux Lookout had 24.

There were also 23 new cases in the Fort Frances health hub, where the current case count is 38.

Dryden, which had 10 new cases, now has 27 active cases.

In its update, NWHU advised area residents not to use the number of cases to judge the present risk of being infected with COVID-19.

Only people who live or work in hospitals, long-term care homes, First Nations communities, congregate living facilities and shelters are currently receiving PCR tests.
