KENORA, Ont. — The Northwestern Health Unit received a report of one new positive COVID-19 test result in its jurisdiction over the weekend.
The case is in the Kenora region.
Follow up with the individual and with the person's contacts is underway.
The NWHU has now recorded 78 confirmed COVID-19 cases this year, as well as two probable cases.
There are currently four active cases in its jurisdiction, including one in the Kenora area and three in the Sioux Lookout area.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported 11 new cases on Saturday and Sunday.
The TBDHU's jurisdiction currently has 12 active COVID-19 cases, and has had a total of 129 confirmed cases so far this year.
At present, no one is being treated in hospital.
Ontario announced Monday morning that the province had recorded 1,242 new cases.
On Sunday, the province set a new daily record with 1.328 cases, breaking the record of 1,132 that had been established on Saturday.
