NOSM dean says negotiator trying to get back to the table

There appears to be some confusion going on between the two sides of a strike at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

There appears to be some confusion going on between the two sides of a strike at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

The strike began on Monday after months of negotiations failed to produce the NOSM administrative group's first collective agreement.
NOSM Dean Doctor Roger Strasser said the school is keen and willing to start negotiating again. He said the chief negotiator for NOSM has tried to start that process with a mediator.

However, the union claims to be unaware of any contact. OPSEU unit president Tyler England said he hasn't heard anything, and is not sure if the school has actually reached the mediator. No contact has been made with the employees through the union, and no talks have been scheduled England said.

Strasser said NOSM values the work the picketing staff do and he's looking forward to them returning to work. But he also said it's important to get the wording of the collective agreement right and that could take a little more time.
