THUNDER BAY – The inaugural Novemburger campaign delivered a meaty amount of money to the United Way of Thunder Bay.

The month-long event, which saw $2 from burger sales at 11 local restaurants given to the organization, collected $12,900.

“Thunder Bay definitely loves a good burger and a good competition. Novemburger was a hit and the community came out to show their local love. In our busy lives, local issues can be easy to ignore or go unnoticed, and you can’t solve a problem if you don’t know it exists,” said United Way of Thunder Bay CEO Albert Brule in a release issued on Friday.

“Novemburger was a way to help United Way of Thunder Bay make issues like hunger #UNIGNORABLE. United Way of Thunder Bay would like to thank all participating restaurants and the community for embracing this challenge and visiting our local eateries to try all Novemburgers.”

The United Way also revealed the Beaux Daddy’s Bon Bon Bacon Blueberry Barbecue Brie Burgers was voted the best Novemburger of 2019.

Sue Hamel, executive director at Eco Superior, was awarded the best photo prize, winning the opportunity to be the face of the 2020 campaign.
