THUNDER BAY – Stories are meant to be shared with others, says the Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop – that might just require the help of a computer screen in the age of COVID-19.
The organization is moving its series of readings connecting writers and readers online, thanks to the pandemic. The group says the new format will still inspire the imagination.
“Even though we can’t physically be in the same space, we can continue to be transported into new and unique places and meet interesting and charismatic characters crafted in the imaginations of the many talented writers in our region,” said NOWW president Jodene Wylie.
NOWW will offer the two remaining readings of the year via Zoom conference. The first, on Oct. 13, is themed "How wonderful to see you," and includes readers Vera Constantineau, Jenny Sharpe, and Marianne Jones.
The second, a holiday-themed celebration with local authors, is scheduled for Nov. 10. Readers for that event will be announced later in October.
Other programming, such as workshops and writing events, is also moving online. Details are available at the Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop website.
