Number of active COVID-19 cases continues to fall

With 44 resolved cases and 20 new cases, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the district has fallen to 259.

THUNDER BAY - The number of active COVID-19 cases in the district has fallen again with resolved cases more than doubling the number of new cases.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 20 new COVID-19 cases, while 44 existing cases are now considered resolved. This brings the total number of active cases to 259, the lowest since Feb. 22. 

Of the new cases, eight are considered the result of household contact, four as other close contacts, four with no known exposure, and four others still pending. Thunder Bay and surrounding areas account for 15 of the new cases and the remaining five are from district communities.

There are no additional deaths and no additional hospitalizations reported on Friday.

The district has now recorded 2,739 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic and as of Saturday it will have been one year since the first case was reported in the Thunder Bay District.
