THUNDER BAY - The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District has fallen to below 20 for the first time in seven months.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting only one new COVID-19 case on Wednesday. With eight previous cases now considered resolved, the total number of active cases drops to 17.
The last time the district saw the active case count below 20 was on Nov. 9, when it was 15. On Nov. 10 it climbed to 23.
The new case reported on Wednesday is from Thunder Bay and surrounding areas and the exposure category is listed as pending.
There were no new variant cases detected as of Wednesday and there are two fewer people in hospital, bringing the total number of district hospitalizations to three, with none in the intensive care unit.
To date, the Thunder Bay District has recorded a total of 3,185 COVID-19 cases.
