THUNDER BAY - Two suspects are in custody after an off-duty NAPS officer made an arrest during a Circle K robbery on Monday.

At approximately 11 p.m., Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a robbery in progress at the Circle K convenience store in the 300 block of Oliver Road.

Investigators learned two suspects entered the store, rushed the counter, aggressively approached the clerk and demanded money.

At this time an off-duty NAPS officer called 911 to report the robbery. The officer approached the counter, identified himself as a police officer and arrested one of the two suspects.

The arrested suspect became combative and attempted to assault TBPS officers who arrived to take him into custody.

Just after 11 p.m., another Thunder Bay Police Service officer located and arrested the second suspect who initially fled the Circle K.

Michael Albert George Dampier, and Anthony Duke Brandon King, both 25 and of Thunder Bay, were charged with robbery. King was additionally charged with non-compliance of a probation order.

Both appeared in court Tuesday and were remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
