A basement fire Friday night at a Northwood home has been determined to be the result of spontaneous combustion within some oily rags.
Crews were called to the Park Row home around 8 p.m. after a resident returned home to find the blaze.
Smoke damage to the home is estimated at $50,000.
No injuries were reported as a result of the house fire.
Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue is now reminding the public to always follow the manufacturer's instructions when disposing rags soaked in oils.
