OLIVER PAIPOONGE, Ont. -- Despite its construction beginning 14 years ago, the agriplex for this community remains an incomplete project.

Now the municipality of Oliver Paipoonge is looking for buyers. Mayor Lucy Kloosterhuis told CKPR Radio that there are problems with the municipality keeping the facility.

“There’s a large cost to it as it would be a public building,” the mayor said.  “If an individual company or organization purchased it, the cost of bringing this building up to specifications would be a lot less.

“So we hope that will encourage someone to come up with a good idea. I hope we have at least three or four good ideas to look at in December.”

The deadline to find a buyer is Dec. 1.

The other option is to demolish the building, which is something Kloosterhuis doesn’t want to see.

“We would love to see this building stay,” she said. “There’s been a lot of money put into it from the province and local organizations and it would be a shame to see it disappear.”
