THUNDER BAY - A 62-year-old Thunder Bay man is dead after a boat capsized on a lake west of the city.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police media release, officers with the Thunder Bay detachment received reports of a capsized boat on Drift Lake west of the city on Tuesday just after 12 p.m.
One person on the boat who was not wearing a life jacket was unaccounted for and the OPP Marine Unit located an unconscious male on shore who was transported to hospital by ORNGE air ambulance.
The man was pronounced deceased at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. He has been identified as 62-year-old Antonio Arruda of Thunder Bay.
Police are reminding all boaters to always wear a lifejacket or personal floatation device while on the water.
