One new COVID-19 case, active count drops to 23

For a second straight day, there were no new cases in Thunder Bay and surrounding area, the lone case found in an area First Nation.

THUNDER BAY -- A single new case of COVID-19 has been reported by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. 

But for the second straight day, no case were reported in Thunder Bay and surrounding area, just the second time since November 2020 this has occurred.

The lone case, of undetermined origin, is linked to an area First Nation.

There are now 23 active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District, the lowest total since May 27 and the district has been in single digits for 11 straight reporting days.

Thunder Bay District's seven-day, per-100,000 case count dropped to 10.67, also the lowest it's been since May 27.

There were no new deaths and no cases tied to variants of concern identified.

There have been 3,329 COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District Health Unit's catchment area, with 3,242 considered resolved and 64 deaths
