THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting one new confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay area.

This is the 24th COVID case reported by the TBDHU in the past six days.

Following its practice, the health unit on Wednesday afternoon issued only a brief announcement that listed the exposure category as close contact, meaning the individual contracted the virus from someone who already had it.

It said the person is currently self-isolating.

This is the 141st COVID-19 case in the District of Thunder Bay.

The TBDHU defines the Thunder Bay area as the city and the townships that immediately surround it.

More than 80 per cent of the cases in the district have occurred in this area, with the remainder occurring either on First Nations within the district or in municipalities more distant from Thunder Bay.
