THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports one new COVID-19 case in its jurisdiction.

The case is in the city of Thunder Bay or surrounding townships.

The TBDHU says the infection is the result of close contact with someone who was infected with the virus.

Seven previously-diagnosed cases have been resolved since Monday.

As a result, there are now 68 active COVID-19 cases across the District of Thunder Bay.

Three people remain in hospital for treatment, including two in the intensive care unit.

At the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home, for the first time since Nov. 21, there are no longer any active COVID-19 cases involving residents.

The company reports that six members of the staff are still considered active cases, and that they remain in isolation at home.

The Ontario government reports 2,903 new cases across the province Tuesday. There have been 671 COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District since the pandemic began. Twenty-two people have died.
