One seriously injured after snowmobile crash near Sioux Lookout

Police say the rescue effort took two hours in temperatures as low as -27 C.

SIOUX LOOKOUT — A 55-year-old man has been severely injured after colliding with a tree while snowmobiling east of Pelican Falls Road on Wednesday.

Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police, Lac Seul Police Service and Northwest EMS responded to a call involving a snowmobile collision on Wednesday, Feb. 17, according to a news release. Police say the rescue effort took two hours in temperatures as low as -27 C.

The injured man was taken to hospital with severe injuries, police say.

Police are reminding snowmobile operators to drive within their abilities and to always carry appropriate emergency supplies, survival kits and communications equipment with them out on trails.
