NIPIGON, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police have located a man who was at the centre of an advisory issued on social media warning motorists not to pick him up.
The Northwest Region OPP posted the advisory to social media late Sunday afternoon, advising motorists to not pick up a hitchhiker on Highway 17 east of Nipigon. A second post was made with the same advisory but updated the location to the area of Highway 17 and Ivar Road in Shabaqua.
Just after 7:30 p.m., the OPP shared another post to Twitter saying the man had been located and thanked the public for their cooperation.
The public was advised not to approach the man and if spotted to contact police immediately.
The OPP did not have any additional details immediately available regarding the warning on social media.
