OPP assist Thunder Bay Police in the search for Kacey Yellowhead

A police boat and a helicopter were involved in the search Wednesday.

THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police are assisting Thunder Bay Police in the search for Kacey Yellowhead.

The 25-year-old man from Eabametoong First Nation hasn't been seen since Aug. 2, when he was spotted in the Ogden/East End neighbourhood.

On Wednesday, OPP officers on a sonar-equipped police boat conducted a search of the Neebing-McIntyre Floodway east of Fort William Road and near the 110th Avenue bridge.

A helicopter was also observed patrolling overhead.

Besides the TBPS, family, friends, and community members have conducted intensive searches in wooded areas, yards, laneways, sheds and parked or abandoned vehicles but have found no trace of Yellowhead.

Grid searches have included the use of a drone.

Thunder Bay Police on Tuesday announced they had obtained new images from a security camera showing him in the 800 block of Minnesota Street, across from the Art Widnall Pool at about 9:20 pm on Aug. 2.

He appeared to be walking toward Pacific Avenue.

Yellowhead is Indigenous and stands about 5'6".

He has a thin build, a medium complexion, shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes and a red mark on his right cheek.

He was last seen wearing a black zip-up hoodie with white drawstrings, charcoal grey shorts and white socks.

Anyone with information that may assist in locating Kacey Yellowhead is asked to call police at (807) 684-1200 or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
