Police have a man in custody following an incident that led to a Highway closure Tuesday morning.

While few details have been released, officials with the Marathon detachment of the OPP say they are “currently investigating an incident on Highway 17 between Marathon and Neys Provincial Park.”

Police say at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, OPP officers attempted to stop a vehicle heading eastbound between Terrace Bay and Marathon.

The two occupants fled after they lost control of the vehicle they were in. That vehicle ended up in a ditch as a result.

OPP now have one man in custody, and say they are still searching for a second man.

While no other details of this investigation have been made public, police are now warning the public not to pick up hitchhikers and to report any pedestrians they see on Highway 17 between Terrace Bay and Marathon.
