THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police say they do not think foul play was involved in the recent death of a 76-year-old man in the Municipality of Shuniah.

Officers conducting a well-being check on Sept. 7 discovered the body of Risto Lehtonen at a residence on East Floral Beach Road.

At the time, they categorized it as a suspicious death case.

But on Friday, the OPP issued an update that stated, "at this time police do not believe foul play to be involved."

The OPP North West Region Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate the case under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
