Two Manitoba men face Tobacco Tax Act charges after police discovered almost 140,000 illegal cigarettes in the pickup truck they were travelling in.
OPP officers in Terrace Bay noticed the pickup truck parked in a snowplow turn-around area just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
During an investigation, the 39-year-old driver from Winnipeg admitted to police that he had a large quantity of tobacco in the back of the truck.
The 39-year-old driver and a 72-year-old passenger have both been charged with possession of unmarked cigarettes. Both men are expected to appear in a Schreiber court on April 12.
