OPP find mushrooms, ecstasy during highway bust

After stopping a vehicle at Sistonens Corners in Shabaqua, OPP officers found drugs and evidence of trafficking. That led to the arrest of a 31-year-old local man

(Thunder Bay, ON) – On September 14, 2016 members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Unit and an officer from Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment stopped a vehicle at Sistonens Corners in Shabaqua.

Investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle was in possession of psilocybin mushrooms, MDMA (Ecstasy), $2500 in Canadian currency and evidence of trafficking.

A 31-years-old Thunder Bay man is now charged with:

  1. Possession of a Controlled Substance X 2 contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  2. Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released and is to appear at Thunder Bay Criminal Court on November 1, 2016.
