OPP finds drugs following highway traffic stop

Police in Sioux Lookout have arrested and charged five people for trafficking narcotics. Sioux Lookout OPP officers say they stopped a vehicle on Highway 72 late last week.

Police in Sioux Lookout have arrested and charged five people for trafficking narcotics.

Sioux Lookout OPP officers say they stopped a vehicle on Highway 72 late last week. As a result of that stop, four men and one woman were arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say officers found and seized cocaine and cannabis resin. The total street value of the cocaine is estimated at $8,000, while the cannabis resin is believed to have a potential value of about $350.

Two of the suspects charged are residents of Thunder Bay, while another two suspects are from Sioux Lookout. The fifth suspect charged resides in Kasabonika First Nation.
