OPP investigate a stolen vehicle

Police are searching for a suspect involved in a vehicle theft.

MANITOUWADGE, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a motor vehicle theft.

According to a police release, a silver 2015 Nissan Murano was located badly damaged by a motorist on Oct. 4 around 6:10 a.m. The motor vehicle was located 8.5 kilometres south of Manitouwadge on Highway 614.

Police say the vehicle was southbound on Highway 614 when it had left the roadway on a curve and struck a large hydro pole.

The driver left the scene and was not located.

An investigation into the incident revealed that during the night of Oct. 3 and early morning of Oct. 4 the vehicle was stolen from Nicol Street in Manitouwadge.

Police say the same night a full, red plastic fuel can was removed from a boat located at 11 Redwing Avenue. The fuel can was located in the rear of the stolen vehicle.
