OPP investigate suspicious death

OPP have arrested a 26-year-old man following an investigation into a suspicious death in Aroland First Nation.

AROLAND FIRST NATION, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police have made an arrest following an investigation into a suspicious death in Aroland First Nation.

On Apr. 14, OPP officers from the Greenstone detachment were called to a residence in Aroland First Nation after receiving reports of a possible injured male.

Byron Meshake, 30-years-old of Aroland First Nation was transported by ambulance for medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.

OPP have charged 26-year-old Jeffrie Metasawagon of Aroland First Nation with assault with a weapon.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and the OPP Northwest Region Crime Unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

A post mortem examination is pending.
