OPP investigate suspicious death in Kenora

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a suspicious death in Kenora.

Police were called to a residence on Mikado Avenue around 3 p.m. on Friday, arriving to find one individual already deceased.

Circumstances of the death have yet to be determined, the OPP said in a statement issued Saturday. The death is under investigation by the OPP’s Forensic Identification Service, under the direction of the force’s Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the office of the chief coroner of Ontario.

There is no known threat to public safety relating to the incident, police said, but urged people to be aware of their surroundings at all times and report suspicious activity by dialing 9-1-1.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, OPP said.

Anyone with information relating to the case is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or submit anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online, where tipsters could be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
