OPP investigating collision on Lake Nipigon

Police are reminding the public to proceed with caution when travelling across frozen surfaces.

GULL BAY, Ont., — Armstrong Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a single motorized snow vehicle collision on Lake Nipigon from Sunday.

OPP responded to the collision on Sunday, Feb. 7, shortly before 5:30 p.m. near the community of Gull Bay First Nation, according to a police news release.

A 53-year-old driver was driving on Lake Nipigon towards Gull Bay First Nation when he lost control of his motorized snow vehicle and was ejected onto the ice.

The driver was transported to hospital by air ambulance.

He suffered serious non-life threatening injuries, police say. Armstrong OPP continue to investigate the collision.

Police are reminding the public to proceed with caution when travelling across frozen surfaces.
