ATIKOKAN – One person is dead following a single-vehicle collision on Highway 622.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, Atikokan OPP, Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services and Atikokan Fire Rescue responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision Wednesday around 7:25 p.m. on Highway 622, 3.3 kilometres north of Atikokan OPP Detachment.
The deceased has been identified as Larry Wayne Gashinski, 72, of Atikokan died in the collision. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Police say Highway 622 was closed for about six hours as police conducted an investigation.
The OPP North West Region Technical Crash Investigation and Reconstructionist team are working in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
