OPP issues warning after police cruiser collides with moose

The officer sustained minor injuries, according to a post published on the OPP North West Region’s Twitter account.

THUNDER BAY - A Thunder Bay OPP officer sustained only minor injuries after colliding with a moose on Highway 17 last week.

Police say the cruiser collided with the moose in the Shabaqua area at 11:25 p.m. on Friday, May 29, according to a post published on the OPP North West Region Twitter account.

The vehicle was severely damaged and the officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The officer was released a short time later.

“Drive carefully out there as moose are very active right now,” the post reads.
