OPP officer charged with assault

An OPP officer with 28-years on the job facing charges for aggravated assault and uttering threats.

THUNDER BAY Investigators with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit and Professional Standards Bureau have charged an OPP officer with three criminal offences as a result of an investigation that was commenced on Jan. 23, 2017. The alleged offences occurred Jan. 18, 2017 while the officer was not on duty.

As a result of the investigation provincial constable, Steve Tetreault, a 28-year member of the OPP currently assigned to the Kenora OPP Detachment was arrested on Jan. 24, 2017 and charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats, and breach of recognizance. 

The accused who is currently on leave was held in custody for a bail hearing in Kenora on Jan. 25, 2017.

The investigation is ongoing.
