Expect more OPP patrols this Canada Day long weekend.
Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment are reminding people to play it safe during long weekend festivities.
Const. Ronnie Grosnick confirmed with CKPR Radio that the force will be keeping a close watch for impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers.
“We just want everyone to have a fantastic long weekend,” she said. “You can only control your own behaviour, so make sure that you are staying safe and following the rules of safety and everyone will be able to enjoy the weekend together.”
Gosnick added that officers will also be checking for seatbelts.
And police will not be ignoring the area’s waterways and trails.
