OPP remind public to keep car doors locked

SHUNIAH, Ont. -- Officers with the Thunder Bay OPP are investigating a series of thefts from vehicles reported in Shuniah.

The Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a number of thefts from vehicles in the Municipality of Shuniah.

The thefts have occurred on Green Point Road, Lakeshore Drive, Grandview Beach Road, and Silver Beach Road.

Police have received reports of a number of unlocked vehicles that were entered and various items stolen including a laptop computer and currency.

The OPP remind the public that thefts such as these are crimes of opportunity, when vehicles are left unlocked or valuables are visible, we make it easier for thefts to occur.

It may be as simple as ensuring valuable are out of sight and taking the time to lock your vehicle.

These thefts can be prevented by using some simple tips:

· Lock doors and pocket the keys
· Keep valuables out of sight
· Roll up windows
