OPP respond to pair of serious crashes in Fort Frances Monday

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to two serious motor vehicle collisions during the lunch hour on September 28, 2015 of Fort Frances, ON.

At 12:12 pm, OPP and Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to  500 Block of Second Street East, near the intersection of Second Street East and Armit Avenue South where a 46 year old male was struck by a motor vehicle. The male was transported to hospital for further medical attention;

And shortly after 12:24 p.m. officers and Emergency Services were then advised of a two motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Fifth Street East and Portage Avenue North.

Both incidents are currently under investigation.

Police are advising the travelling public to be cognizant of their surroundings at all times.

Currently members of the Ontario Provincial Police are participating in the annual Fall Seatbelt Campaign, Failure to bucket up is a $240 dollar fine and two demerit points. The use of seatbelt reduces the likelihood of serious injuries.
