OPP seize cocaine and heroin in Nipigon

An investigation by Nipigon OPP uncovered more than $47,000 worth of cocaine and heroin in an area residence.

NIPIGON, Ont. - A 35-year-old man is facing a number of drug related charges after police seize more than $47,000 worth of cocaine and heroin in Nipigon, Ont.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police media release, an investigation was launched by members of the Nipigon detachment, the crime unit, and the Community Street Crime Unit into the suspected sale of cocaine and heroin.

As part of the investigation, officers searched a Nipigon residence on Wednesday and located suspected cocaine and heroin, as well as a quantity of cash. Police estimate the street value of the drugs seized is $47,500.

Police charged a 35-year-old man with no fixed addressed, but formerly of Scarborough, Ont. with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
