OPP seize contraband tobacco

A traffic stop Monday afternoon has resulted in charges for a Toronto man.

DRYDEN, Ont. – Dryden OPP have charged a 60-year-old man with charges related to illegal cigarettes.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers conducted a traffic stop on June 1 around 2:17 p.m. on Highway 17, Eton Township, for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

As a result of the traffic stop, police seized 135 cases of unmarked cigarettes with an approximate value of $540,000.

Jesus Martinez Aguilar, 60, has been charged with trafficking in contraband tobacco, possession of unmarked cigarettes for sale and possession of unmarked cigarettes.

The accused will appear in Dryden court in August.
