OPP seize fentanyl, cash in Fort Frances drug bust

A drug bust on New Year’s Eve netted more than $13,000 in cash and $2,400 worth of fentanyl.

FORT FRANCES — Three people are facing charges following a drug bust by Rainy River District OPP at a Fort Frances residence on New Year’s Eve.

Police said in a news release issued on Jan. 6 officers executed the drug search warrant at an address on Eighth Street in Fort Frances on Dec. 31.

Among the items located and seized by police was more than $13,000 in cash and three grams worth of fentanyl valued at $2,400.

As a result, three individuals were arrested.

Bryant Acheampong, 27, of Etobicoke is charged with possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Scott Foster, 51, of Fort Frances faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Furthermore, Ashley Gauthier, 30, of Fort Frances is charged with possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
